NEW YEAR, NEW ME CITY DWELLER COLUMNIST ANTONIA WEBSTER HELPS YOU THROUGH THE CHRISTMAS PERIOD WITH HER FITNESS TIPS

With just over 2 weeks until Christmas and a few more days to New Year, the festive season is well underway. Without a doubt you have, or at some point, will have muttered the words ‘New Year, New Me’ or similar to. I daren’t even try to count the number of New Years resolutions which I have sworn my life on, promised I would stick to religiously and to never EVER EVER stop doing! Then low and behold, March comes around and I’ve slipped back to my normal habits !!! By the way, a resolution lasting till March is actually quite an achievement.

I can’t help you drink more water or stop you spending so much money on shoes every month but I’m hoping to shed a little light on Gyms so you can make an informed choice for your fitness resolution…Especially in the winter months plus all those New Year mindsets, memberships will quadruple but which one is right for you? There are loads out there for different types of fitness passions. Taking a look at Premium Gold star gyms. Cleanliness is usually very good, top quality of PT, equipment, facilities and huge variety of programmes, classes and EVERYTHING you might want to do exercise wise. The only pain is the price as its usually on the steep side. Though more than likely you will have access to a pool and spa services so maybe a little extra money is worth it?

24/7 Gyms have spread like wildfire across the UK with one popping up on every corner. They are usually well equipped, run a decent array of classes, the PTs massively vary in standard / experience but the best thing has to be the size of the venues, price and the opening hours. Life doesn’t always go to plan so to be able to train at whatever time day or night is ideal!

Hitting the middle ground are the independently owned gyms. They might be smaller than the 24/7 but outstandingly equipped. Prices are usually reasonable, good atmospheres and THE BEST quality will be the experience, enthusiasm and knowledge of the individuals that own and train there.
