Plenty of reasons to say ‘cheers!’ as Bar Soba have launched a new Cocktail Menu!
Bar Soba are an award-winning Bar & Kitchen concept who specialize in creative, indulgent cocktails, authentic Street Food inspired by the bustling night markets of South East Asia and cutting-edge music from local DJ talent.
The brand, who are celebrating almost 20 years in the business, have developed an exciting new collection of Cocktails featuring fun, fire and big-hitting flavours!
Soba always have their loyal guests at the heart of Menu development, which is why they carefully looked at what was already popular with guests before changing up the offering. Fans of their Drumstick Caipiroska and Um Bongo can rejoice as there is now a whole ‘Disco Drinks’ chapter of the Menu, which is a contemporary tribute to
the 80’s era of Cocktail making – think alcoholic twists on childhood memories, fluorescent green and tuck shop sweets without the umbrellas and sparklers! The Refresher is here to bring something new to die-hard fans of their Drumstick Caipiroska – Vanilla and Lemon vodkas churned through crushed ice with lemon juice and sugar syrup. Served with a Refresher chew on the side for you to see how it measures up!
Thanks to the popularity of their infamous Jangshi Zombie (a drink so strong, they’ll only serve a maximum of two to a guest), they’ve developed more Thai Tiki cocktails, like the Caramelised Rum punch, where each drink is caramelised to order. Demerara sugar is ignited with Grand Marnier before being added to a blend of golden Rum and fresh fruit juices. Their Tiger Lily Colada is crafted with a hint of Pandan essence, which gives it a bright green colour and a mild, nutty flavour.
Music is a big part of the Soba experience and they play host to local cutting-edge DJ talent every week. They take the same approach to their Food and Drink offering as they do to their music – by taking classics and putting their own spin on it! The Menu is full of Soba twists, including an explosive remix of the Manhattan. Their Smoked Walnut and Vanilla version features infused Woodford Reserve bourbon and is smoked to order using oak chips.
They’ve also curated a collection of drinks inspired by South-East Asia, in synergy with their Pan-Asian Street Food offering. Their “Asian Persuasion” selection celebrates flavours such as lemongrass, lime leaf and lychee whilst still paying homage to household drinks! The Long Island Iced Tea, French Martini, Margarita,
Negroni and even the SHANDY have all been given a Far-East makeover.
Soba love to create memorable, interactive guest experiences, having pioneered Cocktail Masterclasses back in the late 90’s. Their new Cocktail Menu gives Mojito lovers creative control! The Make your Own Mojito kit includes a bottle of Bacardi Carta Oro rum and everything else you need to create your own Mojito masterpieces. Guests will receive a quick crash course in the art of Mojito-making from one of Soba’s mixologist before getting to play bartender themselves!
All this is completed with a varied selection of premium world and craft beers, ‘Soba’d up’ non-alcoholic Cocktails, Sharing Cocktails (even a 1.5l Porn Star Martini), Full Moon Party Skulls and perfect-serve Gin and Tonics.
The release of the new Cocktail Menu follows a £3m investment from the Business Growth Fund, which will help accelerate the brand from their current estate of 5 venues to 30 locations within the next 5 years.
Lead mixologist Scott Stevens said “We wanted to put the fun back into drinking Cocktails and we hope our guests have as much fun exploring the new Menu as our bartenders have had creating them”.
The new Menu is available now at Bar Soba Edinburgh. Sites in Glasgow and Leeds launch on 1st August 2017.
