Adam O’Neil from Capital Breakfast Talks About Whats New in the City & January

Happy New Year everyone! I’d considered doing dry January after a little too much Christmas indulgence, but then I read an article that said ‘moderation’ was the way forward, and this sounded far less scary… so happy MODERATION JANUARY!

Seriously though, January is my favourite time of year in Leeds for eating out – with many of our incredible restaurants doing some fantastic deals – Tattu, Blackhouse, Shears Yard, Malmaison and Neighbourhood are all on my hit list (and it’d be rude not to enjoy all this food with the odd glass of wine!)

A big Leeds welcome to one of our new additions whose opening you might’ve missed in the Christmas rush – Cosy Club on Albion Street. The guys held a great launch party, full of plenty of familiar City Dweller faces! It always feels a little weird when one thing changes into another, you see flashbacks, almost ghosts of previous reincarnations… I am pleased to report I wasn’t seeing too much old Next furniture as Cosy Club is basically the old Next discount store! It’s really hard to describe the interior without using the word ‘cosy’ but that really is the perfect word… lots of wood, and leathers, a mix of vintage and retro and some bold lightning fixtures, it’s the perfect place to spend a few hours with mates over some tapas and cocktails… we’re all hoping the pigs in blankets stay on the menu all year (they really needn’t be just for Christmas!!) and the buttermilk chicken was a star too. A special mention must go to the staff who were all brilliantly friendly with great style!

After seeing some great shows at Leeds Arena last year (from Steps, to the MOBO awards) 2018 is shaping up to be another huge year for our little gem. We’re already busy working out how we can sneak JoJo backstage into The Script’s dressing room for a little ‘meet
and greet’ with the boys, particularly Danny. She’s a big fan and ever since the boys wrote her a birthday song (complete with lyrics about her dirty mouth, love of gravy and penchant for falling down the stairs) her obsession has grown! The boys are on 2nd Feb if you fancy joining JoJo screaming!

Have a great month, hope the January struggle isn’t too hard and if it is – check out all the new places you can fly to from Leeds and get away
