LEEDS CITY MAGAZINE COLUMNIST CHARLOTTE FAGAN REVIEWS THE SUNDAY PACKAGE AT DAKOTA DELUXE LEEDS, AND IT DIDN’T DISAPPOINT

I was delighted to be asked to review the Sunday Package at the Dakota Deluxe and knowing this is one of Leeds’ top places to be, I knew the whole experience was going to be second to none especially as we were staying overnight in their classic suite and having Sunday lunch.

Upon arrival I was greeted by their friendly staff in the main entrance to the hotel and the hotel bar where we checked in for our ‘’girls night in’’. My luggage was taken from me at the reception and I was escorted through to the hotel bar to await my friend. The staff at the bar were very attentive and professional, they made me feel very comfortable as I awaited my friend who had been snowed in.

After a few drinks my friend arrived, finally digging her way out of the snow. We made our way down to the Bar and Grill restaurant where we were greeted by Christina. She took us over to our table where we couldn’t help but admire the decoration of the restaurant, so luxurious but calming and relaxing at the same time.

The staff ensured there was a lovely atmosphere throughout. The staff were attentive and took a genuine interest in our plans for the day and evening ahead offering their advice which was taken on board.

As we perused the menu, getting comfy in the leather booth, they brought us a complementary Venetian dip, which had a tomato and basil base, topped with mascarpone and goat’s cheese. This was the perfect little starter to get our taste buds tingling. We were a little sceptical at first as my friend is a vegetarian and the restaurant is well known for its steaks however, we were pleasantly surprised with the balance of vegetarian options on the menu with this being a bar and grill restaurant. After being informed the roast of the day was lamb I was sold, whereas my friend went for the nut roast.

Then the food arrived, we were completely blown away by the beautiful smells and presentation. It almost looked too good to eat. A large Yorkshire pudding, melt in the mouth perfectly pink lamb with a side of goose fat roast potatoes and mixed vegetables. It was utterly mouth-watering and I would recommend the ‘’roast of the day’’ to any foodie. The nut roast looked delicious and this was accompanied by creamy mashed potato and a side of mixed vegetables also. There was complete silence as we enjoyed every mouthful.

Drinking prosecco we discussed the idea of a desert and why not? My friend chose the classical favourite sticky toffee pudding while I went for chocolate brownie with white chocolate ice cream. As we planned our evening for our girlie night in the desserts arrived. Perfectly gooey brownies, an overload of toffee sauce and more prosecco we were in the ultimate food coma. It was definitely worth it, although I would advise trousers with an elastic waist as when you visit you will completely overindulge.

After an amazing lunch there was only one thing on our mind… time to relax! We headed up to the 9th floor to one of their Classic rooms. We didn’t really know what to expect but we were delighted at our room. A very elegant spacious room which would be suited perfectly for our girls night in, but would be amazing for a romantic night away with your partner. A luxurious bed big enough for a family of four and a huge TV with a full Sky package. What more could two girls want! It took us no time at all to order room service where a few more bottles of prosecco were delivered. The staff were so professional, nothing was ever too much trouble for them and even had a giggle at us in our face masks.

The whole experience was faultless on this visit and I could not recommend this beautiful hotel anymore! It’s set in the heart of Leeds city centre, so if you are wanting to party the night away and want a lovely bed to fall into, a romantic getaway with that special someone or if you are like me and want to end the weekend on a high with a girls night in this is definitely the place to be!

Thank you to all the staff at the hotel and restaurant for this experience I’ll never forget. I will be definitely be seeing you all again soon.
