DAME EDNA SAYS GOODBYE IN LEEDS AS THE GRAND WELCOMES ITS NEW SEASON
Leeds Grand Theatre’s brand new season starts this week as legendary entertainer Barry Humphries takes to the stage for the final time, giving Yorkshire audiences the chance to bid farewell to him and his unforgettable characters the Honorable Sir Les Patterson, Sandy Stoneand of course the iconic Dame Edna Everage.
Humphries has already taken his final triumphant bow to audiences throughout Australia and New Zealand. Barry Humphries Farewell Tour is at Leeds Grand Theatre from Tuesday 25th February to Saturday 1st March. Tickets are still available priced from £20 to £47.50 at leedsgrandtheatre.com.
Northern Ballet return to their home venue with Cleopatra from March 6th to 15th with the story of Cleopatra’s sensational rise to power, her scandalous romance with the most powerful men in history and her ultimate downfall.
Derren Brown’s new show Infamous is at the venue from Monday 24th to Saturday 29th March treating Leeds to a stunning show whilst also filming for his DVD in the stunning Victorian auditorium.
In April the theatre is to welcome BAFTA award-winning Alistair McGowan in George Bernard Shaw’s classic British drama Pygmalion. With Rula Lenska and Jamie Foreman, Pygmalion is one of theatre’s most entertaining and beguiling explorations of gender and class and is perhaps best known as the inspiration for the musical My Fair Lady.
Flavia Cacace and Vincent Simone return to Leeds with their brand new show straight from the golden age of Hollywood, Dance ‘til Dawn (April 7th to 12th). The Strictly Come Dancing favourites and former World Champions are set to wow audiences in this, their only Yorkshire date.
With concerts from The Solid Silver 60s Show (Sunday 6th April) and Chas & Dave (Sunday 13th April) there’s plenty for everyone in Yorkshire’s major theatre.
