FREE STRESS RELIEF FOR 18-25 YEAR OLDS IN LEEDS

FREE STRESS RELIEF FOR 18-25 YEAR OLDS IN LEEDS

Rates of depression and anxiety among teenagers have increased by 70 per cent in the past 25 years and psychological distress in women aged 16-24 is at an all-time high.

Research shows that levels of mental illness, mental distress and low well-being among young adults and students in higher education is increasing in the UK and are high relative to other sections of the population.

All of this has prompted calls from researchers for more funding to protect the nation’s mental health.

Fortunately, Lishi Leeds Tai Chi has received a Leeds Fund grant in association with HARIBO to provide free stress relief drop-in sessions for young people in Leeds.

They are offering drop-in workshops at 4 locations in Leeds throughout May. The workshops combine gentle physical exercise, moving meditation and life coaching to enhance well-being for 18-25 year olds.

“I just wanted to say thank you very much for the Happy Minds class.

It was a very new style of relaxation for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed it!!”

The project is called “Happy Mind – Fearless Life” and is collaborating with the University of Leeds, Swarthmore Education Centre, Leeds City College, Leeds Becketts University and Northern School of Contemporary Dance well-being services.

Herwig Vennekens, Managing Director, said: “Young people are our future and HARIBO is delighted to have awarded a Leeds Fund grant to Lishi Leeds Tai Chi so they can support the mental health and wellbeing of young adults in our local communities. I look forward to following this projects progress and seeing all the great things they achieve.”

You can get your first FREE session by registering at www.lishi.org/happy
