WORK + PLAY AT MALMAISON – STYLIST, IMAGE CONSULTANT AND CITY LEEDS CITY MAGAZINE COLUMNIST LINDSEY BENSON VISITS WORK + PLAY AT MALMAISON, A PERFECT PLACE FOR PROFESSIONALS TO WORK FROM
it slightly difficult to lease somewhere professional and still make a living. Malmaison in Leeds have come up with an amazing solution for those that do work in something less than a perfect space and would still like to show their clients that they are professional. Titled ‘Work + Play’ which couldn’t be more apt, the spaces available for hourly or daily rent at the highly regarded Malmaison Hotel, are perfect for those times you require a cost effective and stylish venue to meet or entertain a client.
Last year, Malmaison was refurbished to give the famous hotel and restaurant a more modern and up to date look and feel for their customers. In turn the Work + Play concept was born. Typically a conferencing space, this new concept makes Malmaison the first place to look when choosing your venue for your business meetings.
Offering a range of spaces to suit various needs, I spent the day in one of the 2 available ‘pods’ which are situated close to the entrance of the hotel itself. A spacious, yet intimate area, just right for up to 4 people, with table and chairs, power points, wifi and a TV for use of presentations etc. The space has a glass wall looking into the entrance area, perfect for when waiting for a client to arrive and also makes the room seem bright and airy yet still feels private and intimate. Using geometric prints of greys and whites with pops of lime and yellow, the pod has a modern, contemporary feel of just the right amount, to sit with a client feeling professional yet comfortable.
Included in the price of the space rental are all the teas, coffees and cold drinks available in the communal area, which you can take a break from your meeting and sit in here or take them back to your pod and continue your day. Depending on the time of day there is also a small selection of snacks available to perk up your creative minds; Mornings, usually pastries, late morning would be something sweet in case you’re flagging and after lunch time, a healthy treat to boost you through to your evening agenda.
Given the location, it would be rude not to opt for lunch at Chez Mal. While I was there, another room was in use, approximately 15-18 people in this meeting space who had lunch brought up to the communal area, perfect to break during your long days and treat yourselves to the delights we all know to come from this renowned kitchen.
The professional yet personal experience the pod allows is perfect for those small meetings or even a hour or day of uninterrupted calm. It’s comfortable and allows you to feel connected to the business world. The Events Manager, Scott, and Sales Manager, Caroline, were so welcoming and friendly it made my day go extremely quickly and very smoothly. Almost like a non working day. Any place that can make you feel that, is surely a fabulous one.
