The latest addition to Martin & Co’s Leeds City Centre office is Lettings Negotiator Georgina Downing! In her City Dweller Magazine column, she tells us about how she’s fallen in love with Leeds again and how she’s finding working at Martin & Co.
But there’s just something about Leeds that always seems to call me home. I was born and raised in the countryside of Otley Chevin and, in all honesty, I felt I’d exhausted Leeds by the time I had been to university and come home again. Queue the obligatory gap year in Thailand.
But even after enjoying constant weekends by the sea in one of the world’s most tropical climates, I still returned to my roots. Much to my mums delight!
Manchester was good fun, but I got bored after a year, whereas the London rush hour grew tiresome quickly and all the while Leeds was beckoning to me from a small corner of my mind that I thought was long forgotten. Oh how wrong I was!
Being back in the city doesn’t feel old or samey like it once did, it’s new and vibrant and ever changing. Leeds is keeping me constantly on my toes and tempting me to try all it has to offer. The streets have changed and places that used to be a back street are full of newness. I’m rediscovering the city I love once again.
Call Lane is still booming as always but nowadays
I’ll usually end the night round the corner on Lower Briggate with cocktails on the terrace overlooking the courtyard of Fibre. If I’m in the mood for something a bit different, I’ll take a short trip to The Maven or Smokestack to satisfy the craving for a bit of old school blues and jazz.
The Alchemist still provides one of the best rooftop terraces in my opinion (and creative cocktails) along with Belgrave Music Hall and Headrow House. All of them are good to end a day trip after hitting a few shops for a well-deserved drink, however that can easily turn into an evening at the top end of town!
Coming from a sales background in luxury fashion, it was a risky career move but it’s certainly safe to say I’ve landed on my feet as a Lettings Negotiator for Martin & Co in Leeds City Centre.
I’ve only been with Martin & Co for a short time but I’m already a part of a family that keeps on growing. Properties in Leeds City Centre and North Leeds are in high demand so I’m never short of new things to do and great new opportunities to let the people of Leeds their dream homes.
It’s such an exciting time to be working for this company and I’m meeting new people every day. It’s been the best career move I’ve made so far and I’m so pleased to be back in the most brilliant city in the North.
