It’s Saturday night, it’s my mate’s birthday and we want a big one… what better time to check out the cities newest club PRYZM Leeds?
There has been a recent buzz around the nightlife scene of Leeds about a new club taking over the old Oceana site, with an array of guest super star DJ’s and a selection of rooms PRYZM Leeds is a welcome change from the typical bar crawl we can all too often slip into to.
With PRYZM Leeds popularity soring we pre-empted the queues and went VIP, with a fast track ticket and entrance to the exclusive Belvedere VIP lounge it was a given. Opening at 10:30pm the Belvedere VIP was an ideal calm before the clubbing storm we were due to experience, and with Belvedere Vodka as the sponsor you are guaranteed a classy tipple before knocking back the tequilas. Settling into to our luxurious environment it seemed quite apt to make a selection from the classic cocktail menu, fancying the fizz Claire and I went for the PRYZM 75 with Vodka, Chambord and Moet whereas birthday boy Cristiano ordered the fresh and fruity Raspberry Collins.
Now clubs being clubs it’s not often you are presented with a top notch cocktail, this is where PRYZM Leeds differs, our experienced mixologist knocked up concoctions that you’d expect to find in the finest of cocktail bars. Feeling the vodka kicking in and the beat getting deep we felt ready to throw ourselves into the action of the main room PRYZM. Being the heart of the club with its unique Vegas touch we could very well have been walking into one of Sin City’s own legendary super clubs.
The extensive laser system alongside the mix of old and new Electronic Dance Music sent me reminiscing back to my days in Ibiza when I could hack it with the best of them (not saying I’m not partial to cutting a few shapes anymore it just doesn’t happen quite so often!).
If you’re not one to get in the thick or just want to party with your mates check out the private booth packages and do it in true celeb style, and if the special effects and pumping tunes aren’t enough already keep your eyes on the stage for the impressive break dancers or the weird and wonderful circus acts. Having lost ourselves in the music for quite some time and getting adequately sweaty we ventured out onto the open air terrace with its own DJ booth to recuperate.
In the mood for some old school RnB we next ventured in the lavish curve room with its black and gold décor, array of huge mirrors and private booths. Taking a pit stop in the boutique chic loos Claire and I could not believe our luck to find hair straighteners and dryers, and by the reflections we were presented with they were very much needed! Looking as fresh as when we started the night we headed straight for the central dance floor to get our twerk on. Not quite flagging and sensing the need for cheese building with every shot we busted out our final moves on the light up dance floor in the dazzling Disco room. Yes they played Dirty Dancing and yes we embarrassed ourselves but did we care by this stage? Did we heck!
On the wind down and in need of a little TLC we retired to the Acoustic Lounge, kicked back in the ski lodge surroundings (compulsory antlers and moose head wall mounts included) and listened to the live acoustic music provided by some of Leeds College of Music’s most talented students. Now for us ‘nine to fivers’, Saturday night is the night we go big but that’s not to say PRYZM Leeds doesn’t keep the party going throughout the week, open Wednesday to Saturday they’re bound to suit everyone’s nightlife needs. Check out the website for up and coming events, VIP and Party Packages and the exclusive booth hire available in any of its five rooms. Finally beaten we left PRYZM Leeds and its crowd still going strong (not the same could be said for the birthday boy). Feeling euphorically happy we took the short stroll home (via the statutory burger joint) to get our heads down and wait for the impending hangover. For us PRYZM Leeds was a night of class, variety, clubbing, fun and frolics all under one roof, so if that sounds right up your ally we recommend you head to PRYZM Leeds you won’t be disappointed!
See you on the dancefloor!
