Yorkshire Terriers Football Club is pleased to announce after a two year break that the Yorkshire Tournament is back. Held over the weekend of the 19th and 20th March, the club hopes as many people can join them for a weekend of football and partying.
Previous tournaments have had over 25 teams competing from up and down the United Kingdom and we hope this year is no different. The weekend kicks off on the Saturday night with the all-important draw at our sponsors, ‘The Bridge’. There are drink promos including happy hour all night on selected drinks and free shots. The night is then your own to take in some of the scene’s other venues where discounted/free entry and drink promotions are on offer for all players and supporters.
The football kicks off at 11am on the Sunday and will be played at the John Charles Centre for Sport. Depending on number of entries we hope to finish around 4pm. The exact format of the tournament will be out in due course but as per previous years we would hope to format it in a way where every team plays plenty of football. This is a 5 a side tournament.
After the football we will return to our sponsors, ‘The Bridge’ for the awards presentation. There will also be free food for all players and supporters. We would hope to wrap up proceedings around 5pm, but worry not; the Yorkshire Terriers will be out long into the night to end the weekend in style so feel free to join us.
The entry fee this year is only £5 per player (payable on the day) and this entitles you to all the perks mentioned above. Supporters will be asked to make a contribution to the mental health charity CALM and there will be buckets on the day for this.
As many people will know the GFSN community lost a well-known and well-loved member who played in many Yorkshire Tournaments for the Nottingham Ballbois and Yorkshire Terriers over the years. The club will therefore be donating a percentage of the income from the tournament to the charity CALM. As highlighted above, the club will also have collection buckets on the day and would hope people would donate any spare change that they have.
