On Sunday 16th April (Easter Bank Holiday Weekend) Federation present their 15 Year Anniversary Party, which will take place in their spiritual home Leeds, and the chosen venue is The Warehouse nightclub on Somers Street.
If you came to their Halloween event here you will know how amazing this space works and if you didn’t make it, come and see what all the fuss is about.
Federation DJ’s Tony Walker, Stuart Robinson, Marc Leaf, Christian Appleby and Greg Myers will be joined by Pav on Percussion alongside the One Love entertainers headed up by the fabulous Clem and Maureen plus they have a whole host of dancers, installations and walkout shows.
It was in April 2002 beneath Leeds train station in some dirty Victorian railway arches where an International clubbing institution was born…. enter FEDERATION!
On Saturday 6th April 2002 to be exact, Federation opened the eyes of Leeds clubbers for the very first time. The damp foisty smell and muffled bass as you headed over the gushing waters of Leeds River Aire added to the excitement on the trek to this underground venue. It’s impossible to forget the portable toilets on trailers positioned on part of the car park that would later become our second room to meet the demand of the growing event.
The parades of entertainers, dancers and crowds of supporters around Leeds city centre bars on the hours leading up to opening time was the talk of the city. In those early days, even the electricity was supplied by generators which powered an obsession with getting as much lighting and production into the venue as they possibly could, but this would make for a brilliant backdrop for our entourage of performers doing some truly crazy shows on our stage.
It wasn’t long before other major cities around the UK wanted a piece of the Leeds phenomena and soon ‘Federation’ would go on to host spectacular events in Manchester, London, Birmingham, Nottingham, Newcastle, Blackpool, Hull, Dublin, Belfast, Gran Canaria and of course Ibiza.
